Operation "DYNAMO" - Recommendations of Personnel.
I.M.S. GLENGOWER - Commander Michael Anthony Ormus Biddulph, R.N.
This ship did two trips, and on one the ship was put
on to the beach, thus facilitating the embarkation of
troops. On these two trips, the ship brought back over
1,000 troops. The ship was continually being bombed, and
on one occasion a shell burst inside the ship killing
five soldiers and wounding seven.

Commander Michael Anthony Ormus Biddulph, R.N.
Showed great initiative and seamanship, not only
in entering Dunkirk under difficult conditions, but
also in putting his ship ashore on the beach so as
to facilitate the embarkation of troops, without
DSC
damage to the ship.
On the second time over, the ship was continually
under fire and by his devotion to duty, large numbers
of troops were brought back.
Recommended for decoration.

Was Coxswain of one of the lifeboats, and made
repeated and successful trips to and from the beaches
DSM
whilst under fire, maintaining order and showing
himself fully competent under very difficult
circumstances, and further showing gallantry in
taking his boat into the shore whilst under fire.

very fine example of leadership and determination
in making repeated trips to the beach.

In addition to carrying out his ordinary duties

at the boilers, took his turn as a member of a boats
crew, and when finished with that, although scarcely
able to stand with fatigue, volunteered for any job
in which he could be of any use.
