Remained for seven hours being continually bombed and machine gunned, Only had a small dinghy and owing to surf was unable to take off troops. Found empty whaler and started to embark troops. Managed to do two trips to beach with whaler and dinghy. Ship had to keep under way whole time as it would have been impossible to start engines once they were stopped, owing to defects. Recommendations. OFFICER: Lieutenant Herbert Edward Wigfull, R.N.V.R. Showed great skill, determination and pertinacity whilst off the beaches in face of difficult conditions due to engine defects, surf and continual bombing. Recommended for mention.	Dinghy Wigfull
