A note about image and OCR quality

Every reasonable effort has been made to present these document images as flat, straight and accurately cropped as possible. Ramsgate There are a certain number of Belgian troops at La Panne who ask permission to embark in British ships in order to join Allies. As we are using Belgian ships and crews for our own embarkation this request must be acceded to and instructions should be given accordingly. 1347/29 2. S.N.O. DUNKIRK to VICE-ADMIRAL, DOVER (R) Admiralty Bombing of beaches and Dunkirk pier has now commenced without opposition from fighters. If they hit Dunkirk pier embarkation will become very jammed. Beach at La Panne covered with troops congregating in large numbers. Very slow emarkbation taking place from eastern beach. The French staff at Dunkirk feel strongly that they are defending Dunkirk for us to evacuate which is largely true. 1358/29 Note The above signal was made by S.N.O.
